How to Get Risk of Rain 2’s Rusted Key
As many are likely to expect, a Rusted Key is required in order to open a Rusted Chest, and obtaining one is a bit of a process. This process begins by completing a relatively difficult challenge that asks players to find a teleporter in Risk of Rain 2 and then kill the boss in less than 15 seconds.
While players can come up with their own strategies for completing this objective, solo runs with the Engineer of MUL-T are good opportunities to quickly slay bosses — players should simply focus on dealing as much fast damage as possible with one of these two characters. Alternatively, it is possible to complete the challenge late in a run by using a bevy of items to cut down a boss with swiftness.
With the challenge complete, there is now the chance for a Rusted Key to appear in subsequent runs. To note, there is no guarantee that a Rusted Key will be available, so players will simply need to be on the lookout as they continue to try to get Lunar Coins in Risk of Rain 2 and advance through the game’s levels.
What to Do With Risk of Rain 2’s Rusted Key
For players that are lucky enough to obtain a Rusted Key, the next step is to locate a Risk of Rain 2 Rusted Chest. As with the key, there is no guarantee that players will encounter a Rusted Chest on their run, even if they have a Rusted Key in hand, but they should certainly keep their eyes peeled for one across the game’s array of levels. Indeed, Rusted Chests are said to be quite rare, but they seem to provide some seriously strong loot when opened.
Fortunately, a single Rusted Key will be able to open every single Rusted Chest found in a run. For players that want more chances at powerful items as they work to obtain Risk of Rain 2 character unlocks, making Rusted Keys accessible is a great option.
Risk of Rain 2 is available now on PC through Steam Early Access.
