1. Robin van Persie vs Sunderland - October 16th, 2011

We all know van Persie is a brilliant free-kick taker but due to recurring absences through injury we never really saw any, the last one being in late 2007…until the game against Sunderland; with the game tensely poised at 1-1, van Persie relieved all the pressure by scoring a beautiful picture-perfect free-kick which ultimately proved to be the winner and the catalyst for Arsenal to go on a strong unbeaten run in the league.

  1. Robin van Persie vs Wolves – February 12th, 2011

If there was ever a goal to match one from the famous Invincibles era where counter-attacking football was prevailent, it was van Persie’s second goal in the game against Wolves – started off by Sagna, to Djourou to Song to Fabregas to Walcott, and finally, to van Persie who slotted it home, from one side of the pitch to the back off the net in the other, all in less than 11 seconds – a joy to watch.

  1. Robin van Persie vs Birmingham - February 27th, 2011

The 2011 Carling Cup final was a complete disaster but it did have a very special goal in it. Arsenal had gone 1-0 down but their equalizer came from a brilliant volley from an airborne van Persie who put his body on the line to score a cracker of a goal. However, it came at a cost as van Persie had injured himself and couldn’t really influence the game from that moment onwards, but the goal is still a pleasure to watch.

  1. Robin van Persie vs Barcelona – February 16th, 2011

Facing Barcelona is never an easy task and it looked like Arsenal were going to lose in their first leg round of 16 game with Barcelona when David Villa scored the opener. But then up stepped Robin van Persie, who from an impossible angle scoring one of the best goals of the year, equalizing for Arsenal! Victor Valdes never expected a shot from the byline and the whole Emirates Stadium crowd went berserk as Arsenal spurred on to get the winner through Andrei Arshavin as they became the only team in Europe to defeat Barcelona in the Champions League. But it was van Persie’s goal that stole all the headlines.

  1. Robin van Persie vs Everton – December 10th, 2011

What a goal to mark the 125th anniversary of Arsenal Football Club and what a way to win! “1-0 to the Arsenal” as the famous chant goes as Robin van Persie served up a delightful volley in the 70th minute. A quite remarkable team goal which started from Johan Djourou’s thrown-in all the way up till Alex Song’s sumptuous assist for the goal. Even Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry who was in the stands couldn’t help but give a standing ovation and admire the goal which in no doubt, is unanimously Robin van Persie’s best goal of 2011!
