With runs hard to find for both teams, the Rockies blanked the Mets thanks to a brilliant pitching performance from Bettis, who improved to 4-1 for the season by holding the Mets to just six hits while hurling seven scoreless innings.
Charlie Blackmon, starting to find his offensive form, and Nolan Arenado led the Rockies with the bat.
No Colorado player recorded multi-hit games, but Blackmon reached base twice with a single and a walk, and Arenado blasted his eighth home run of the season.
The Rockies (19-15) improved to 14-8 on the road with their fourth successive win. Usually strong at home, Colorado remain just 5-7 at Coors Field, but look for that to change as the season progresses.
GIANTS ENJOY BIG NIGHT
Andrew McCutchen, Evan Longoria, Brandon Crawford and Alen Hanson all had big nights in an 11-2 win over the Atlanta Braves. Posey, Crawford and McCutchen collected three hits apiece, while Hanson went two for five with a home run, double and four RBIs.
Rhys Hoskins went one for three with a home run (five), two RBIs and two walks in a 3-1 victory against the Washington Nationals. Philadelphia (18-14) have been one of the surprise teams early this season, and Hoskins, batting .286, has developed into a lethal bat.
DUVALL’S WOES CONTINUE
Cincinnati Reds slugger Adam Duvall bashed 64 home runs over the last two seasons entering the campaign, but he has struggled to see the ball in 2018. He went 0 for four in Saturday’s 6-0 loss to the Miami Marlins, dropping his average down to .162.
WONG GOES LONG FOR WALK-OFF HOMER
Kolten Wong hit a walk-off home run. Wong’s 10th-inning blast helped the St Louis Cardinals defeat the Chicago Cubs 8-6.
