Additionally, Sony also asked PlayStation fans for requests of which PS2 games it should upscale and create trophies for next. It seems that Sony has been paying close attention to the suggestions, too, as the company has now released two of the PS2’s era’s most popular (and most controversial) titles: Bully and Manhunt. Both games are now available on the UK version of the PlayStation Store, though it is unclear when (or if) they will be released in North America.
In Bully (known as Canis Canem Edit in Europe), players play Jimmy, a pupil of Bullworth Academy, which is described as “the worst school around.” In addition to actually attending class (which involves mini-games), players are also able to go around the open-world environment standing up to bullies, playing pranks, and getting involved in faction conflicts. The game’s PlayStation Store listing explains that it comes with “full 1080p up-rendering and enhanced features such as Trophies, Share Play, Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App”.
Manhunt, on the other hand, is a survival horror title that once made headlines for its incredibly graphic violence. Taking place across 20 levels, players play as death row prisoner James Earl Cash who has to go through various parts of a city, taking down various violent gangs. Like Bully, Manhunt is being released on PS4 “with full 1080p up-rendering and enhanced features such as Trophies, Share Play, Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App”.
However, while Bully and Manhunt may have just been added due to their overwhelming popularity, some fans have suggested that Rockstar Games could be working on new titles in the respective franchises. Bully 2 rumors have been circling for years and though there has been significantly less speculation about a new Manhunt game, given that (Rockstar Games’ parent company) Take-Two promises that it will be at E3 2016 in a ‘big way’, anything is possible.
